The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document (i.e.. they must be understood and used, so each rcfcrcnccd document is cited in text and its relationship to this document is explained). For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition ofthe referenced document (including any amendments or corrigenda) applies.
IEEE Sid 367TM. IEEE Recommended Practice for Determining the Electric Power Station Ground Potential Rise and Induced Voltage from a Power Fauli’
IFEF: Std 4871M. IEEE Standard for the Electrical Protection of Communications Facilities Serving Electric Supply Locations — General Considerations.
IEEE Std 776’, IEEE Recommended Practice for Inductive Coordination of Electric Supply and Communication Lines.
IEEE Std $2O’. IEEE Standard Telephone Loop Performance Characteristics.
3. Definitions, acronyms, and abbreviations
3.1 Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply. The IEEE Standards Dictionary
Online should be consulted for terms not defined in this clause:
coupling: The means by which electric power may be transferred from one conductor to another,
drainage reactor: A center-tapped inductor with a high mutual impedance between the windings.
harmonic suppression reactor (HSR): A mitigation device that is connected between the wye point of a capacitor bank and the grounded neutral conductor to limit the harmonic current flow through the capacitor bank by changing the impedance of the neutral to ground path and, thereby, the resonant frequency of the network with respect to ground.
influence: The capability of a power circuit to couple voltage andor current into nearby communication circuits.
longitudinal balance: The ratio of the disturbing longitudinal rms voltage (Vs) to ground and the resulting metallic mis voltage (Vm) of the network under test. expressed in decibels as follows: longitudinal balance 20 log 10 VsiVm (in dH). where Vs and Vm arc at the same frequency. Also known as balance.
longitudinal choke: A two-winding transformcr designed to have each winding connected in scrics with one of the wires of the pair that typically make up a common circuit.IEEE 1137 pdf download.
